Divided once again into the three groups that participate in most Wyoming Catholic competitions -- the Philosophers, the Poets, and the Cowboys -- students faced a number of challenges throughout the day.
A Cross Country Ski Race (around Lander's lone golf course, which serves as a small ski run during the winter), a Ski Relay (to test the students' ski-sprinting skills), Sled Racing (in pairs, for added hilarity), and a Snow-Ball Throwing Contest were all some of the amusing and enjoyable ways our students spent the afternoon.
There were more practical events, as well: an Avalanche Transceiver Search, (which involved trying to locate a number of buried avalanche transceivers in Lander's Dillon Park), as well as a Water Melting Contest, (which was won by the student first able to fill a Nalgene water bottle with water produced by melting snow over a camp stove.)

The Snow Building Contest, where each group of students was instructed to build the tallest, most aesthetically pleasing snow tower possible in two hours, might not have fallen into either amusing or practical, but it certainly produced a number of spectacular entries. And the day's events were capped off with a medal ceremony in Boeseke Hall at Holy Rosary Church.
The day's events, which (ironically) was completed only a few days before a sudden Spring snowstorm dumped over a foot of new snow on the town, is further documented in a photo album
here. (February 22, 2010)
