The students kicked off the weekend's activities with the school year's first formal dance -- a costume party held in the newly-acquired Frassati Hall, which was filled to capacity for the Saturday evening event. The evening featured songs, skits, and entertainment from students and faculty alike, refreshments, dancing, and all manner of fun and games for the faculty and staff children in attendance.

The next day, the College was pleased to welcome members of the Denver Chesterton Society to Lander to celebrate the newest addition to the ever-growing stable of academic tools available to our students: the Chesterton Reading Room. There was a reception where the students had the opportunity to visit with Mr. Dale Ahlquist, President of the American Chesterton Society, as well as the members of the Denver society. Following the reception, Father Robert Cook inagurated the Reading Room, blessing the volumes and the room itself. Made possible by the generosity of the Denver Chesterton, the collection features the complete (available) works from the Prince of Paradox, and will be housed in the
Two Sisters Bed and Breakfast.
That evening, Mr. Ahlquist and Dr. John Chalberg presented the semester's first
Distinguished Guest Lecturer lecture:
G.K. Chesterton, Apostle of Common Sense. Dr. Chalberg, a skilled impersonator whose highly accurate portrayals of G.K. Chesterton have been seen throughout the world, saw to it that Chesterton was there "in person" for the presentation. The students -- once again filling Frassati Hall to capacity -- welcomed them enthusiastically, listened attentively, and cheered loudly at the conclusion of Mr. Ahlquist's and Dr. Chalberg's talk. It was truly a fitting finale to the weekend's festivities.
