Bishop-elect Etienne has been a priest in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis since his ordination in 1992. He has studied at the University of St. Thomas, St. John Vianney Seminary, and the North American College in Rome. He received his License in Spiritual Theology at the Gregorian University in Rome. In Indianapolis, he was Vocation Director for three years and was Vice-Rector at Bishop Simon Bruté College Seminary as well as Spiritual Director at St. Meinrad School of Theology. Presently, he is pastor of St. Paul in Tell City, Indiana and Dean of Tell City Deanery.
The new bishop succeeds Bishop David Ricken, who was a co-founder of Wyoming Catholic College in 2005. Bishop Ricken was transferred to the diocese of Green Bay in June 2008.
Fr. Robert Cook, WCC President, says the College is both grateful and excited to have a new shepherd. “Not only is the Bishop of Cheyenne our spiritual leader here in Wyoming, but he also serves as the Chairman of the WCC Board of Directors,” explained Fr. Cook. “Of course, we will all be very excited to welcome him to campus as soon as he is able to visit." (October 19, 2009)
