The safety of our students is of paramount importance to Wyoming Catholic College. Every effort to assure their safety has been and will be made.
The precise details of safety requirements and procedures are set

forth in the Student Handbook, which each student receives. The parents of the student also receive a copy of this Handbook, the main policies of which are reviewed in a Parent Orientation meeting that occurs at the drop-off of the freshmen.
Measures have been taken to ensure the security of all campus buildings and locations through the use of key locks and electronic locks with codes. The students share in the responsibility of making effective use of these measures by, e.g., making sure the front door to their residence hall is always closed, locking their own doors, not giving out the codes, and so forth. The College also instructs male and female students in common sense safety practices, such as male students accompanying female students at night when walking between the church or classroom building and the residence halls.
In the NOLS Fall and Winter Programs, students are taught the necessary skills to safely undertake a variety of outdoor experiences in the wilderness areas around Lander. The College encourages such outdoor activity and supplies the necessary equipment. Students are told the requirements for using school equipment on their weekend outings of camping, hiking, backpacking, fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and similar activities. Students are required to pre-select on topographical maps the geographical areas in which they will undertake their weekend activities, registering such information with school officials.
There is a full-time Director of Student Life whose responsibilities include ensuring that students’ needs are met and their concerns heard, enforcing the College’s rules, and organizing trips, events, and sports. The Director of Student Life is assisted by student prefects selected for this honor by the President, and assigned one to each dormitory. Prefects help maintain the rules that sustain a close-knit Catholic community and protect its harmony and tranquility. These rules include no possession of alcohol or illegal drugs (or underage drinking even off campus), and no visitation of women's dormitories by men or vice versa.
