(Posted April 18, 2008) WCC President, Rev. Robert Cook, in Washington, D.C., for the visit of Pope Benedict XVI, spoke with Bill Bennett on the radio show, “Bill Bennett’s Morning in America.” They discussed the Pope’s visit, with special attention to the address he delivered to Catholic educators on April 17. Several callers also put questions to Fr. Cook. To listen to the show (and to get a taste of WCC’s excellent choir), please click here!

(Posted April 25, 2008) WCC students and staff are blessed to have a chaplain like Fr. Nicholas Gregoris. Not only does WCC offer students both the Ordinary and Extraordinary forms of the Roman Rite of Mass as well as the Byzantine Divine Liturgy thanks to Fr. Nicholas' liturgical proficiency, the College's staff has gained yet another renowned scholar. Fr. Nicholas is a contributor to a recently republished book and has lectured here in Lander.

(Posted March 26, 2008) For centuries, the dominant type of Western music— which could loosely be called “classical”— sought to harmonize music’s great emotional power with the primacy of rational form and order. Competing types of music, which in the 20th century overtook classical, often appeal to baser emotions. (Posted May 5, 2008) “Are we those pagan Greeks, o’ercome by sorrows in this lacrimose vale? Let us turn instead and celebrate her, who is radiant as the dawn, whose Son so gloriously trampled down such paltry shadows of death. Consent to commence with feasting and games whose splendor will be sung by the bard, as we see who is most favored, be it Cowboy, Poet or Philosopher.” So reads the “ancient” Mariad, composed in classical epic style, which recounts the heroism and triumphs of WCC’s inaugural Ludi Mariales (Marian Games) on Saturday, May 3rd. The day began with Holy Mass and the Crowning of Our Lady. Then the students battled for supremacy in contests modeled on the Greek games reported in Homer’s Iliad and concluded the day with a Greek barbecue feast. Tons of pictures—check ’em out!

(Posted April 23, 2008) Did the founders of Wyoming Catholic College consciously set out to create the kind of college that Pope Benedict XVI envisions? Well, that is what they accomplished! Many of the Pope’s speeches and writings on education could be cited, but we think his recent address to Catholic educators during his apostolic visit to the US is an especially rich and timely example. Click below for more information and the full text of the Pope’s address!

(Posted March 13, 2008) Judiann found everything she was looking for right in the name: Wyoming, Catholic, and College. When she was accepted into our first freshman class, she knew that she would be a pioneer of sorts as the College came to life. She had only one question at that time—would WCC live up to the promise of its name? For Judiann, the answer is yes; indeed, WCC has surpassed the promise.
